Our famous Head Office
We are very fortunate that our Head Office resides within The Clock Tower – one of the most historic buildings within Walton on Thames, Surrey, dating back as far as the 1600’s.
A snapshot from its history includes;
In the 1770’s, Charles Bennet, the 4th Earl of Tankerville changed the game of cricket forever by introducing the third cricket stump (as up until then there had only ever been two).
In 1903 the first ever film version of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ was made in the grounds – at the time, it was the longest film in the world.
By 1918 over 27,000 Anzac troops had been cared for at Mount Felix and neighbouring Oatlands Park.
In 1966 the estate unfortunately succumbed to a fire, leaving only The Clock Tower and adjacent cottages.
In 1998 Simon Holdings plc purchased the building and has invested time and money on completely refurbishing the interior of The Clock Tower, returning this formidable grade II listed building to its former glory.
